Indiana Dunes State Park fall nature activities
Two very unique and exciting activities are being hosted by our neighbors at the state park nature center.

Through the rest of November, you can see the park naturalist Brad Bumgardner catch, band and release Saw-whet Owls.  These owls are diminutive but magnificent, and it is a thrill to see one up close and perhaps even hold one. Stop by the nature center to learn more, or go to http://bit.ly/1tXM499 to receive alerts when an owl is captured.

And on November 15th, the park will host a bus trip to Jasper-Pulaski park to see the annual Sandhill Crane migration.  Rather seeing one or two tiny but beautiful owls, prepare to see over 10,000 cranes, standing around 4 feet tall, all landing and calling out within a couple of owls.  It's a sight that will stay with you a lifetime. Call 219-926-1390 to register.

Finally, you may want to pick up the new poster about the Calumet River basin and its natural history.
