~ Refuse and Recycling Schedule ~
Trash & Recycling Collection Schedule for 2019
 
The town's service provider, Regional Industries, picks up trash each Monday and recycling every other Monday.  If any of these holidays falls on a Monday, then collections occur on Tuesday.

LaPorte Superior Court reaffirms Lake Michigan beach north of high water mark is public land 
The ruling July 24th in a suit brought by the Long Beach Homeowners Association follow a previous ruling in LaPorte circuit court.  Specifically, the ruling contends the area north of the ordinary high water mark as set by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers is owned by the state, according the article in the NWI Times.  The home owners association plans to appeal. Click here to read the article.

State recommends local public hearing on pavilion alcohol license
Another opportunity for public comment by supporters and opponents of the plan for a modified pavilion in the Indiana Dunes State Park may open up soon. The Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission voted 4-0 on Tuesday to send the alcohol license application for Pavilion Partners LLC back to the Porter County Alcoholic Beverage Board for a second public hearing and board recommendation.  Click here for more.
 
Bike service coming to the South Shore sooner
Responding to considerable feedback following the July 16th meeting announcing a six year delay, NICTD has proposed a new pilot program to begin as early as next spring that will enable 25-30 bicycles on special trains.  More details can be found here.
